How to create a ‘WIN-WIN’ situation in the organisation…

In the late 60’s and early 70’s the management believed in theory ‘X’, which stated that intrinsically human beings are lazy and don’t want to work so they needed to be punished.

Later there was a shift in the thinking and theory ‘Y’ came into existence which stated that basically human beings are good and wants to work only thing is that they need to be motivated and rewarded from time to time. Both these theories became obsolete because they were based on manipulation and exploitation.

Top down management / Power-over / Domination:

Then there was a big paradigm shift in the management style, from top – down management structure, which was based on ‘Power-Over’ and domination kind of management style,  which many a times lead to a ‘Win- Lose’ situation, creating conflict and tension in the organisation. Much of the time and energy of the HR department was and is spent on sorting out these conflicts.

Each Human being is unique, and Human beings make an organisation. This uniqueness reflects in their skills, experience, habits, socio-cultural conditioning, individual   perspective, emotional triggers, and working style. Because of this uniqueness the workplace relationships become very complex. Added to these are the power relations and hierarchy. These different dynamics often result in conflict and unhealthy competition, which affects the overall productivity and harmony of the organisation.
