Social Change through Mind Change... A NVC way...

ngo bannerSince time memorial humans have found different ways to dominate, dictate and discriminate other beings. They did this to prove their superiority, to be in control and have the power. In order to this they created structures, systems to exploit and manipulate other beings very effectively by instigating physical, emotional and psychological fear. These structures were created on the basis of socio, economic, racial, gender and religious grounds. These different structures augmented lot of pain and violence. In this game of power and discrimination, in 20th century alone human beings have killed more than few million people.

On the other hand there are people who are longing for freedom, equality, self-respect and dignity. They would like to see love, peace and harmony on the planet earth. There is deep yearning for togetherness and oneness.

J Krishnamurti on Social change...

JKSocial reform may be brought about through legislation or through tyranny, but unless the individual radically changes, he will always overcome the new pattern to suit his psychological demands – which is what is happening in the world.
It seems to me very important, then, to understand the total process of individuality, because it is only when the individual changes radically that there can be a fundamental revolution in society.
It is always the individual, never the group or the collective, that brings about a radical change in the world, and this is historically so.
Now, can the individual, that is, you and I, change radically? This transformation of the individual – but not according to a pattern – is what we are concerned with, and to me it is the highest form of education. It is this transformation of the individual that constitutes religion.

Domestic Violence against women:

It is seen that in general, most women worldwide, and India in particular, go through ‘Domestic Violence’.  For ages, they have gone through this pain; this is basically due to the domination structure and the belief system, which exists.  It is a deep-rooted conditioning, which stops these women to come out of this domination system.  Women in India especially from socially and economically backward class are dependent on their male counterparts for survival. As a result, they are too scared to confront and to express themselves.  Many a times, they live and die with this pain.

nNVC India intends to ‘Empower’ these women by offering them the tool of ‘Nonviolent Communication’. This tool will help them to bring out their confidence and ‘connect’ them with their dignity, self-respect and humanity.
